Arun Sarin May Take Top Job at India's BSNL

Vodafone's former CEO, Arun Sarin is being suggested as the future CEO at India's state-owned telco, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) in a bid to turn the company around. Government sources told the Business Line newspaper that a list of possible candidates is being prepared which will be vetted by a selection committee.

"We are discussing various candidates, including Arun Sarin. He is an Indian and has global expertise in successfully managing a large telecom company. A final decision is yet to be taken based on what the candidates ask for to take up the job and what the Government is prepared to give. Arun Sarin, for example, may want to bring in his own team if he agrees to our proposal."

The current CEO, Mr Kuldeep Goyal, retires next month and a temporary manager may be appointed while a long term replacement is found.
