Korean Vendor Licenses Image Compression Technology
Human Monitoring, the developer of hipix, a still image compression technology, has entered into a partnership with South Korea's Innoace to develop mobile applications which will enable 8 Megapixel MMS images to be delivered across mobile networks using less than 300KB of data.
Human Monitoring's hipix technology utilizes the existing h.264 video CoDec to achieve twice to five times more effective still image compression compared to JPEG images on mobile handsets.
In addition, Innoace will also distribute Human Monitoring's other image technologies.
"Our technology changes the way images are transmitted and viewed. We are excited to partner with one of the most experienced and credible mobile solution providers in Korea. The synergy between Human Monitoring and Innoace will ensure that our solutions are made available to the Korean Mobile and TV markets, quickly and efficiently." said Meir Kollmann, CEO Human Monitoring, . "Leveraging the experience and knowledge of Innoace will enable operators and handset manufactures to revolutionize still image transmission, and change the user experience beyond recognition. Human Monitoring's hipix technology uses the existing handset infrastructure, avoiding the need for any hardware modification."
