South African WiMAX network operator, Neotel has launched NeoBroadband Wimax, an uncapped internet access solution. The company has a network of WiMAX base stations, deployed in the four main metro­ areas in South Africa.

Convergys has announced that Vodafone Fiji will use the Intelligent Loyalty Solution, which is part of the Convergys Intelligent Interaction Solutions portfolio, to help improve retention and data management for its 750,000 subscribers.

Belize Telemedia is getting ready to launch a joint voicemail system, powered by Comverse. This new voicemail system for both wireline and mobile subscribers will replace two legacy systems.

Telefonica O2 Czech Republic is upgrading its network to EDGE technology in Prague and Brno. It has extended its existing contract with Nokia Siemens Networks to provide the upgrade with its Flexi Base Stations. In addition, the company will install, commission, integrate, project manage the upgrade as well as extend the operator's packet core network.

Orange Moldova has demonstrated its Alcatel-Lucent supplied LTE network in the capital city, Chisinau.

Hutchison 3G UK has started selling its first sub-£100 Android based smartphone - supplied by China's ZTE.

Optus Australia has tested a Nokia Siemens Networks supplied LTE network in Sydney.
